Hi,
I am curoius to know why I paid $75 for access to this forum and its offered free online? Please let me know why I had to pay and others don't. Maybe I'm missing something here. Thanks Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Glad to answer your question. There are two levels of membership, free and PRO, and there's a world of difference between them.
As a free member, you get access to scaled down, low quality youtube videos, and basic access to the forums.
As a PRO member, you get:
- Full size and quality videos, which you can download
- Get to download all the exercise files
- Ask an expert access
- Full access to all of the forums
- Get to suggest tutorial ideas
- Pro resources (extra brushes, shapes, actions, and more)
- No ads
New videos will be added to the site, we're working on a new series in photo retouching. All new videos will be for PRO members only.
So as you can see, there's lots of reasons to be a PRO member now and even more so in the coming months.
Hope that's answered your question.
Best,
Rog

Thanks Rog. After I started this new topic I found the old emails videos that explained what all a PRO member gets.
My other concern is how many members are PRO and how many are free?
Does this forum list the two levels?

The way it works is that everyone can see the forums no matter what level they are, but certain parts only PRO members get to participate or view the full thread.
At the moment as far as the forums go, the only difference is that PRO members get to see the Ask an Expert archives with the question and answers (which will build up with time - and we need to close some of the completed questions - coming in a few days). Free members only see the question. All other parts of the current forum free members have equal access.
In the coming months we will be rolling out sections to share your work and have it critiqued by other members and other sections. Access to that will be PRO only, though free members will be able to chime in a give their opinion.
It's still a bit dusty with all the pending and future improvements, but hang in there, this place will only get better with time!

A the moment there are two dozen PROs, but people are shy...
DP is a long story. But no, I'm not. We were in partnership for the old site with the person behind the persona. They're more of the late night Billy Mays informercial type of guys and we did the content.

TWO DOZEN Pro members here??? WOW! And I'm the only PRO memeber active on this site. Hilarious! LOL
I can't wait for the shy Pro's come out and play with me. lol
Well, I can't wait for exciting things to start here.
I must share with you that I was not happy when I learned Photoshop Fast Track Tutorials Months 1-12 are offered free online to "free account holders". Last July 2008 I paid $96.00 to get the tuts one month at a time. May 2009 when I logged in my account to finish a few lessons I was presented with "Photoshop Universe" $75 membership fee for one year. Becuase I purchased so many products from DP I paid the membership fee to be a member here, which I find the same tutorials, which are free online. OMG! I really felt robbed. I understand as you stated above on Monday 6/29/09, the benefits being a PRO. I will also keep in mind that in the comings months there will be improvements. I can't wait for that.
Hopefully, the PRO members wake up soon and help us get this forum off the ground :-)

Hi Rog,

Hey Melissa,
Yeah the old site has gone into transition to what is now Photoshop Universe. We had to draw a line and post what we had promotionally and continue with new series. The free videos are of course of limited quality, not as easy to follow and don't come with the benefit of having it available for download and the exercise files.
The advantage of going for PRO over the old site is that new content will be added periodically, the old site would never have anything new beyond the 12 months. Not to mention the new ask an expert access, the forums (which will build up with time no doubt) and so on.
Transitioning is never fun, but hang in there, it'll only get better.
